I recently started to read Donald Millers book ‘Blue like Jazz’ I have previously avoided reading this - purely because so many people raved about it (twisted right?) thats how my cynicism manifests sometimes - me and Jesus are working on that….
Anyway - it really is a great read. A lot of Christian books rant. most rant and make people feel guilty, or they are trying to be so sincere they lose authenticity and become very see-through. Blue like Jazz isn’t trying to be anything - as Donald Miller says himself he wanted to write a simple book that reads like he is chatting to a best mate…. this book is so laid back, inviting and funny that i haven’t been able to put it down. The simple chapter titles of ‘grace, Belief, confession, church, romance and community’ contain deep but understandable reflections on how hard it is to be a Christian in the 21st century…
This is a great book. I found my copy in Oxfam for £3….. if anyone wants to borrow it - let me know.
